UPDATE #1 Fatal Accident on I-5 in Salem; Two Lanes Closed Indefintely

Oregon State Police and other agencies are on scene of a double fatal traffic accident on Interstate 5 in Salem.

— Oregon State Police and other agencies are on scene of a double fatal traffic accident on Interstate 5 in Salem.

All southbound lanes of I-5 are closed at milepost 258 just south of Portland Road in Salem following a multi vehicle crash that resulted in a double fatality. As many as seven vehicles including a semi truck with tanker were involved in the crash according to ODOT.

I-5 is expected to be closed or delayed for at least the next two hours.

UPDATE 9:30 a.m.: One lane of southbound I-5 in north Salem is now open. The other two lanes will remain closed at milepost 258 just south of Portland Road in Salem following a multi vehicle crash. Law enforcement is conducting an investigation and those southbound lanes will remain closed indefintely. Motorists should avoid the area or expect delays.
