UPDATE: Fatal Crash on I-5 Southbound in Salem Sends Several People to the Hospital

OSP says at least five vehicles were involved in the crash, and one of them was a northbound vehicle that jumped the median.

— Oregon State Police and other agencies are on the scene of a fatal traffic accident on Interstate 5 southbound in Salem Wedensday morning.

An Oregon State Police Detective on scene told Salem News Journal that several people have been transported to Salem Hospital in various conditions. He would not confirm how, or if any people were killed in the crash.

Reports earlier from ODOT said at least two people were killed in the crash.

He said at least five vehicles were involved in the crash, and one of them was a northbound vehicle that jumped the median.

Law enforcement is conducting an investigation and those southbound lanes will remain closed indefintely. Motorists should avoid the area or expect delays.
