— The Oregon Lottery asked five Oregonians to tell us about a teacher who played an important role in their lives.

Each one spoke about a teacher who provided the spark of encouragement, mentoring, and inspiration that changed their lives and helped them grow into the successful adult they are today.

Those appearing in the TV and radio campaign that began airing Sept. 1, include:

  • Tom Hewitt – A 32 year drama teacher in the Salem-Keizer schools
  • Carmen Rubio – Executive Director, Latino Network
  • Erika Welsh – Co-founder, Wild Friends Foods
  • John Strong – Lead Major League Soccer announcer
  • Amanda Gow – Program Director, Big Brothers Big Sisters of Central Oregon
