Two Young Adults Injured After Car Hits Power Pole near Hillsboro

Firefighters from Washington County Fire District 2 and Hillsboro Fire Department responded to the scene just after 7:30 a.m., and found two young adults entrapped in the vehicle.

— Two people were seriously injured when their pickup truck struck a power pole and flipped onto its roof Monday morning on NW Helvetia Road in Washington County.

Firefighters from Washington County Fire District 2 and Hillsboro Fire Department responded to the scene just after 7:30 a.m., and found two young adults entrapped in the vehicle.

The incident commander called for additional resources and requested Life Flight to be activated.

Firefighters quickly stabilized the vehicle and began providing patient care while other firefighters began cutting away the vehicle's crushed doors.

Both patients were conscious and talking with firefighters during the process. Both were extricated in about 25 minutes from the time firefighters arrived.

The female passenger was taken by Life Flight to Oregon Health Sciences University Trauma Center, and the male driver was taken by Metro West Ambulance to Legacy Emanuel Hospital.

The Washington County Crash Analysis Reconstruction Team was called out to investigate the accident.
