Oregon grown specialty crops will share the spotlight as part of Oregon’s Bounty: A Celebration of the Harvest, held at the State Capitol Saturday, October 7.

SPD told Salem News Journal that all of the involved parties were transported to Salem Health with varying degrees of injuries, however none of them are life-threatening. Their current medical conditions are unknown. 

The Oregon Army National Guard is scheduled to honor Citizen-Soldiers in a mobilization ceremony on Friday, Sept. 29, at 10:00 a.m., at the Anderson Readiness Center, located at 3225 State Street, in Salem, Oregon.

The Salem Police Department Traffic Control Unit is investigating a serious injury crash on Silverton Rd NE and Lansing Ave NE. The roadway is expected to be closed for a number hours.

A robbery of the Key Bank on Portland rd occurred about 2:30 Wednesday afternoon. While law enforcement actively searched for the bank robber, a Salem Officer spotted a subject trying to duck down in a car that was leaving the area.

The Oregon State Correctional Institution will hold a fundraiser for the Willamette Humane Society of Salem. The will be held at Capitol Subaru in Salem on Sunday October 1st. Recyclable bottles and cans will be accepted, as will cash donations.

Two people died in a head on crash just North of Monmouth shortly before 8 pm Friday. The vehicles collided just north of Whiteaker Rd. The cause of the crash remains under investigation.

A Silverton resident has his dog to thank for his life after a house fire Thursday morning. the first arriving unit found fire coming from the doors and windows catching nearby trees on fire in the 4300 block of Silver Falls Hwy.

On Monday, August 7, Marion County broke ground on a new public safety building to house the Sheriff's Office Parole & Probation and Enforcement divisions. The new building provides work areas for staff and clients that are safe, professional and functional.

Street improvements will bring street closures to Mission Sunday and Monday nights. Flaggers will be present at the intersection of Liberty Street SE to allow northbound Liberty Street traffic to pass through the intersection.

Update: Today in cooperation with fire officials and Marion County Emergency Management the decision was made to move the Breitenbush Hot Springs and the Breitenbush summer homes to a level 1 or a ready evacuation state.

A malfunction caused 4000 gallons of untreated sewage to be discharged into the Willamette River Tuesday. Signs have been posted warning people to avoid contact with the Willamette River water due to potentially high levels of bacteria.

On Sept. 14 the Marion County Commissioners issued a level 3 evacuation order for Breitenbush Hot Springs and the Breitenbush Summer Homes. The decision was made after weather experts determined a risk for thunder and lightening in the Santiam Canyon.

Linn County Deputies tell Salem News Journal that a 10 year old female from Mill City was on her way to the School Book Fair, when she was struck in the crosswalk on Broadway Street by a 2005 Dodge Caravan.

Today, the Marion County Board of Commissioners authorized a Level 3 evacuation notice for areas of Breitenbush Hot Springs and Breitenbush summer homes. Level three means it is recommended they evacuate immediately.

Gov. Kate Brown will unveil the monument. Author Sig Unander will provide historical background on Phillips and the significance of the monument. Claire Phillips was a stage actress and singer who grew up in Portland.

On August 29, 2017, an investigation began into four wildland fires that occurred along the Highway 97 between the area of Lava River Cave and Mile Post 180 south of La Pine, Oregon. Through a collaborative law enforcement effort and information obtained from the public, a suspect was developed.
