The Early College High School (ECHS), located on the Chemeketa Community College campus was placed in lock down Thursday morning after someone sent a threatening email using a hacked or “swatted” email account.

The Marion county Sheriff's Office says that the SWAT Team executed a search warrant in the 100 block of Oak Street in Gates Tuesday morning. Deputies seized 4 firearms, over 40 grams of methamphetamine and over $4000 in cash.

Stayton Man Dead After Stabbing Another In Jail

A man has died as a result of stab wounds received during an altercation with another man in the Stayton area last night. The victim has been identified as, Jere Moody, age 70, of Stayton. The suspect Samuel Taylor, age 26, of Stayton has been processed into the Marion County Jail

UPDATE#2: Today, Clayton Stanfill, age 53, of Turner, was arraigned by a Marion County grand jury for murder related to the October 15th shooting death of Judy Stanfill, age 52, in their Turner home.

McMinnville Police told Salem News Journal that a call came from inside a home at that location that an intruder had attempted to break into a residence and was shot by the homeowner.


Oregon Fire Fighters Assisting With California Wildfires

The Oregon State Fire Marshal has sent 10 strike teams south to assist with the wildfires in California. They are actively engaged in a 24-hour work cycle protecting homes and other structures.

Tornado Waring For Canby and Aurora and areas East of there. National Weather Serviced Confirmed a Tornado did touch down at the Aurora Airport. The Tornado was moving in an Easterly direction.

Today, around 12:30 p.m., a Marion County man met with a potential buyer of his motorcycle near the Ankeny Wildlife Refuge after posting it for sale on multiple social media platforms said Marion County Sheriff. The motorcycle is a gray, 2014, Yamaha R6 with Oregon license M722871.

5 People From 1 Family Dead in Violent Collision

UPDATE 2: The Oregon State Police said this morning that Favian R. Garcia, 27, driver of the Landrover, was arrested and lodged in Marion County Jail on charges relating to yesterdays fatal wreck. The violent crash Sunday took the lifes of 4 children and their mother.


Fatal Crash On Portland Road North of Salem (Video)

Update: 5 vitims in a deadly crash. Portland Road is now blocked for the investigation into the fatal crash that happened about 4:30 today, says Oregon State Police.  OSP has verified that this is a multi fatality crash and the investigation will have the road closed for several hours.


Garbage Rate Increase Proposed for Salem, Meeting Oct. 9

Salem City Council will hold a public hearing on proposed increases to garbage service rates paid by Salem home and business owners. The City says it has historically determined garbage rates on an annual basis by examining market conditions and the garbage service companies' financial statements.

Polk County Deputy Involved in Northeast Salem Shooting

Shots were fired early Saturday morning when a Polk County Deputy Sheriff attempted to stop a 1996 blue Honda Civic on Wallace Road in West Salem. Leading the deputy through West Salem and into Northeast Salem the pursuit ended at the intersection of Oak Park Dr. and Mooreland Ave.

Salem Bank Robbery Suspect Apprehended After High Speed Chase

A suspect is in custody after robbing a Salem bank and leading multiple officers on a high-speed chase of approximately 25 miles, said Salem Police. The suspect is 43-year old Richard Louis Whittington of Sheridan
