— A shooting took place in a Keizer street today, with children playing all around, and sending one man to the hospital with non life threatening injuries.

Deputy Chief Kuhns of Keizer police tells Salem News Journal that the call came in to dispatch about 11:59 this morning.

The caller reported a shooting had just occurred in the 3600 block of Brooks Avenue NE.

The complainant called 911 to report a friend had been shot and was being taken to the Salem Hospital by private vehicle.

Responding officers later learned the individual who said they were transporting the shooting victim to the Salem Hospital actually drove to the Roadway Inn located on Astoria Way NE in Salem.

That person then abandoned the vehicle leaving the shooting victim at that location.

Chief Kuhns said members of the Salem Police Department responded to the Roadway Inn and located the shooting victim.

Paramedics then responded and transported him to the Salem Hospital for medical treatment.

Kuhns says that investigators have identified and are seeking the shooter.

Police say that 31-year old Ryan Joel Carrera is who witnesses said fled the scene in a silver 2017 Nissan Altima 4-Door with California license 7ZBE429.

Ryan Carrera may be headed to the Tacoma, Washington area.

The Keizer police are asking for the public’s help with this case.

If anyone knows the whereabouts of Ryan Carrera, or observes the 2017 Nissan Altima call 911 immediately.

Carrera is believed to be armed with a handgun and has a state-wide felony warrant for his arrest on an unrelated incident.
