— Shots were fired early Saturday morning when a Polk County Deputy Sheriff attempted to stop a 1996 blue Honda Civic on Wallace Road in West Salem.

Oregon State Police tell us that the driver of the vehicle then fled and a pursuit began.

Leading the deputy through West Salem and into Northeast Salem the pursuit ended at the intersection of Oak Park Dr. and Mooreland Ave.

Shots were then fired and the driver again fled the scene in the Honda.

Shortly after the Honda was found abandoned nearby.

Sunday the Marion County Sheriff's Office located and arrested Timothy J. George on a previously issued warrant for unauthorized use of a motor vehicle.

George is a person of interest in the officer involved shooting that is still under investigation.
