Shooting on Fisher Road Possibly Fatal

Some one was shot tonight at apartments on Fisher Rd early this evening. Neighbors told Salem News Journal that they heard shots and then a woman screaming. Salem police are on the scene and working the case.

Shots Fired At Salem City Hall

A gunshot was fired at city hall Saturday evening striking one of the civic center windows. On Monday civic center employees discovered a west facing window on the main floor of the library had been damaged.


Assault In Front of Salem Church

Early Saturday evening Salem police responded to Highland Ave. where they worked a crime scene in front of the neighborhood church until about 8:15pm. They say it was some kind of assault, but don’t yet know what kind.


Fugitive Arrested 10 Years After Deputies Death

A Marion County fugitive, on the run for ten years for killing Marion County Deputy kelly Fredinburg, has been rearrested in Mexico. On December 21, OSP learned that De Jesus Ascencio., age 29, was rearrested in the State of Michoacán, on an arrest warrant. 


One Person Dead After DUII Crash Near Keizer

A man is in jail and a person has died after an early morning crash north of Keizer. With the holiday season fast approaching, this morning's incident is a tragic reminder to always drive sober.

Mother and Child Held Hostage at Knife Point in Their Home

Marion County Sheriff’s Office says that a Salem woman and her minor child were held at knife point in their home over night. Deputies say they believe that Christopher Hahn-Collins, age 25, of Salem broke into a Southeast Salem late Friday afternoon and waited.

Keizer Police Looking for Burglary Suspect

The Keizer Police Department is asking for the public’s help in locating an individual wanted for a string of crimes that recently occurred in Keizer. So far efforts to locate and arrest this man have not been successful. 


Infant Death Being Investigated as Homicide in McMinnville

 The McMinnville Police told Salem News Journal that they and fire personnel were called to a apartment that is attached to a residence at 1125 NE Irvine st. on a report female infant was not breathing. Officials said that the infant sustained abusive head trauma that led to her death.


Inmate Walks Away From Coffee Creek Correctional Facility

The Oregon Department of Corrections says a minimum-custody inmate walked away Monday, at 6:50 a.m. from Coffee Creek Correctional Facility in Wilsonville. Inmate Lorrie Marie Hocker, 42, is a white female, 5 ft. 3 in. weighing 145 lbs, said officials.
