This morning, at approximately 3:00 AM the Oregon State Police responded to a single vehicle crash on Interstate 5 near milepost 243 southbound in Marion County. The Oregon State Police was assisted by the Marion County Sheriff's office, Jefferson Fire District and the Oregon Department of Transportation.
Today, the Elections Division issued the official administrative rule setting the timeline for a January 23, 2018 election on Referendum 301. An election will only be held if petitioners turn in at least 58,789 verified signatures by October 5, 2017. However, the uniquely compressed calendar for this special election requires work to begin in September.
The City of Salem has hired Norman Wright to serve as the City's new Community Development Director. He will begin work on October 2nd. The Community Development Director position was previously held by Glenn Gross, who retired last April.
