Fatal Hit and Run Outside of Corvallis
UPDATE 11/23/2015: Suspect Located
(November 22, 2015, 4:53 pm) CORVALLIS, Ore

UPDATE: The deceased pedestrian has been identified as Shiloh F Ssundstom, age 34, of Deadwood, Oregon. The driver and vehicle involved in the incident has been located and detectives from the OSP Criminal Investigations Division are on-scene of that driver's residence continuing the investigation.


Road Worker Struck by Vehicle (Video)

Oregon State Police is telling us that tonight a vehicle struck a pedestrian on Highway 99W near milepost 47 (just south of Amity). Preliminary information indicates a highway work zone flagger was struck while flagging traffic.

Man Critically Injured in Evening Crash (Video)

The Marion County Sheriff Office say that tonight at about 5:30 p.m., deputies were called to the area of Silverton Road NE and Desart Road NE on what witnesses reported as a motorcycle versus truck crash.

Accidental Fire Takes a Life (Video)
(November 13, 2015, 5:37 pm) DALLAS, Ore

On November 13th, 2015 at about 2:40 am the Dallas Fire Department assisted by SW Polk Fire, were dispatched to the 4000 block of Van Well Rd on a report of a structure fire. Upon arrival they found a motor home fully engulfed in flames. The fire department took action and later determined that there was a deceased person inside.

Fatal Crash on Cordon Road (Video)

Deputies are on scene and investigating a two vehicle car crash on Cordon Road NE near Ward Drive NE. The crash has claimed the life of one driver and critically injured another. The Sheriff's Office CRASH Team is responding to the scene.

Since the dedication of the Oregon State Hospital Cremains Memorial 14 months ago, the cremated remains of more than 100 individuals have been returned to their families, Native American tribes or other groups, Oregon Senate President Peter Courtney reported today.

One Year Later Man Still Missing

Salem Police Detectives are asking for assistance from the public as they continue to search for 59-year old Daniel Alvin Zwicker. Mr Zwicker has been missing since September, 2014 when he was last in contact with family members. At the time of his last contact, Mr Zwicker was described as 5'08", 160 lbs with balding hair and glasses. 


Marine Board’s Clean Marina Program Expands, Facilities Re-Certify

Oregon’s Clean Marina Program has grown to a flotilla of 63, but that’s just a scratch on the surface of the nearly 200 marinas that qualify for the Marine Board’s free program.  The goal of the program is to incorporate as many floating homes, moorages, boat yards, yacht clubs and marinas as possible, and have them certified as “clean.”

The Oregon Parks and Recreation Department (OPRD) is prohibiting all campfires in Oregon State Parks and other properties owned and managed by the department beginning Aug. 19 at 10 a.m. The ban includes but is not limited to designated fire pits, tiki torches and candles. The ban also extends to fires on ocean beaches.

On Tuesday evening at the Fire District Board meeting, the motion was passed to ask the citizens of Keizer for a small increase in their taxes to better serve them. Fire Chief Jeff Cowan said, "We do the best to maintain our equipment and keep it in good working order, but time and wear are against us. 


Willamina Residents Pulled From a Burning
(August 14, 2015, 12:56 am) SHERIDAN, Ore

The Oregon State Police are reporting that two Willamina residents sustained minor injuries from a fiery crash just outside of Sheridan on Wednesday. Mr. Paul Dolan ,age 80, and his wife, age 81, from Willamina, was driving eastbound on Hwy 18 when he approached a vehicle stopped and waiting to turn onto Pittman Road.

Salem Man Arrested for Sex Abuse to a Minor
(August 13, 2015, 9:33 pm) DALLAS, Ore

The Polk County Sheriff's Office tells us that they arrested 58 year old Hugh Reeves of West Salem on two counts of Sexual Abuse 1 against a non relative minor female. Reeves was lodged at the Polk County Jail on $150,000 bail. During the investigation deputies learned that Reeves also had two prior sodomy convictions approximately 11 years ago from Marion County.

Elderly Woman Missing Near Turner Rd (Video)

UPDATE:  Patty Slater was located at approximately 8:10 PM in the 2700 block of State St alive and well. The public's assistance is very much appreciated. The Salem Police Department is asking for the public's assistance in locating a missing person with memory difficulties. Patricia "Patty" Slater, 67 years of age, walked away from her residence in the 3100 block of Turner Rd today around noon.

Inmate Walks Away From Fire Crew
(August 9, 2015, 3:08 pm) SALEM, Ore

     UPDATE: Kenneth Polchowski is back in custody. Medford Police arrested him today, August 12 2015, at approximately 8:30 p.m. No other details are available at this time. The Oregon Department of Corrections says that an inmate walked away this morning from a mobile camp at the Stouts Creek Fire near Canyonville.

The Oregon Army National Guard honored nearly 300 Soldiers of 1st Battalion, 186th Infantry Regiment, 41st Infantry Brigade Combat Team, in a formal demobilization ceremony, August 8, at the Spiegelberg Stadium, in Medford, Oregon.

 


Restraining Order Issued Against

On Tuesday Deputies with the Marion County Sheriff's Office were made aware of a large "Rave" style party being held at 980 Silver Falls Drive NE, near Silverton in rural Marion County. The party titled "The Boombox in da Boondox" is set to play music throughout the night and provide food vendors, and others who are performing things like glass blowing.

The Salem Police Traffic Control Unit is currently investigating a crash in which a vehicle hit two pedestrians and a dog at the intersection of Pine St NE and Maple St NE. UPDATE: Salem Police have released the names of the victims in last nights fatal crash.  


One Man Dead After Hit by Train (Video)
(August 6, 2015, 4:16 pm) SALEM, Ore

At about 2:45 Thursday afternoon, a southbound Amtrak train struck a pedestrian at the crossing in the 1300 block of Sunnyview Rd NE. Salem police and fire units responded and confirmed that the pedestrian, an adult male, had been killed. The crossing at Sunnyview is currently closed while authorities investigate the incident.

Today at about 12:40 p.m., deputies with the Marion County Sheriff's Office were called to a home armed robbery in the 4900 block of Sunnyview Rd NE. When deputies arrived the 3 victims described the robbers as white males, wearing black hooded sweat shirts and black bandanas.
