Deputies know that the semi was traveling east toward Turner when the driver says he experienced brake failure causing the truck to careen through the intersection, into a rock retaining wall and finally coming to a stop in the yard of a neighboring residence.
Today at 1:33 PM Marion County Fire District #1 got the call that a lawnmower had started a field on fire. This Fire quickly spread to four alarms and before it was stopped by quick thinking fire fighters almost got into some homes.
The report of a gun shot wound brought Salem Police officers to 4389 Burlington Loop NE at 2:59 this morning. On arrival they found a man with a gunshot wound.
Just after 3:00 am this morning, Marion County Fire District No. 1, as well as Marion County Sheriff's Deputies responded to a reported vehicle crash into a house in the 4700 block of Herrin Road NE.
UPDATE VICTIM IDENTEFIED: The deceased victim in this incident has been identified as 47-year old Darryl Patrick Jones of Salem. Early this morning several shots were fired inside the Stars Cabaret Gentlemen's Club according to one witness. The man, who declined to be identified, was inside the club at the time of the shooting says “they came there to kill Him."
Late this afternoon a fire broke out in a home in the Kennedy Meadows Mobile Home Park. The fire quickly spread to a neighboring home. Both homes have severe damage.
In the early morning hours of Wednesday, July 15, Salem Police officers responded to the report of an attempted car clout on the 800 block of Fran ST SE. Thanks to the activation of a car alarm, the owner was alerted to the activity, and called police.

UPDATE: David Micheal Brown has been captured in Multnomah County. Salem Police Detectives have exhausted all their leads in the search for David Michael Brown and now are requesting assistance from the public in locating a suspect in a child pornography case.
UPDATE: The Salem police tell us that the victim in this incident has now been identified as 60-year old John Douglas Layton of Salem. At approximately 8:26 am Salem Police and Fire Departments received calls of a plane crash north of the runway on the Salem airport grounds. Witnesses reported that a small plane was attempting to takeoff northbound.

On May 2nd, Sandra Peterson, age 70, of Salem attended a gardening class at Egan Gardens, located at 9805 River Road NE, in Salem. On May 5th, Ms. Peterson realized she had lost her wallet and found someone had been using her debit card.
About 8:00 pm Shots were fire in the intersection of Lansing Av. NE and Chester Av NE. At this time no injuries have been reported.

A Salem teen is in critical condition after colliding with a vehicle while ridiing his skateboard. 16-year old Joseph Viellette was riding his skateboard northbound on Pringle Rd SE just before 10:00 pm last night when he went through a red light at Madrona Ave SE.

On June 5th, 2015 at 6:42 pm, a citizen notified authorities that they had located what they believed to be human remains near a bridge crossing the Yamhill River on Oak Ridge Road in Yamhill County.
