Salem Police Ask For Public Assistance In Hit and Run Investigation

33 year old Salem resident David Diedrich reported that at approximately 4:15 pm he was riding his bicycle westbound on the south sidewalk of Court St NE and just beginning to cross Church St NE when he was struck by a vehicle that was traveling northbound on Church St. When David was struck by the vehicle, both he and his bicycle were thrown up on the hood of the vehicle, then they both fell back to the ground.

Men in custody at the Oregon State Correctional Institution recently raised $4,200 for Camp Agape Oregon when they hosted their annual walkathon fundraiser. The event was held on the institution yard to raise money for children of incarcerated parents to attend Camp Agape, a four day experience for children in Lane County who have a parent in prison.


Multiple Tires Slashed One Teen in Custody

A 15-year old Salem male was taken into custody by Salem Police officers for slashing multiple vehicle tires in south Salem during the later evening hours of October 31 and early morning hours of November 1.

Marion County Fire District #1 Appoints Acting Chief

Marion County Fire District #1 held a special board meeting today to appoint an acting/interim fire chief for the fire district. Former Chief J. Kevin Henson submitted his resignation earlier this month with an effective date of October 31st, and the board of directors unanimously supported the appointment of Assistant Chief Terry Riley as the acting interim fire chief.

Pedestrian Involved Traffic Crash

The Oregon State Police are continuing their investigation into Monday afternoon's pedestrian-involved collision that occurred on Highway 99E near Hayesville Drive NE just north of Salem. The pedestrian received minor injury and no citations have been issued at this time

FBI Seek Public's Help Identifying Suspected Three Time Bank Robber

A man suspected in two bank robberies on Thursday, October 16, 2014, is now suspected in a third robbery, this time in Cottage Grove, Oregon. The Friday, October 17, 2014, robbery occurred at the Wells Fargo Bank branch inside the Safeway store located at 1500 E. Main in Cottage Grove at about 2:45 pm.
