About 1:45 this morning a fire broke out in the woods in Cascades Gateway Park. It only took 10 minutes to put the entire thing out. No word on the cause, but that is a very popular homeless camping area.
About 7:30 tonight Salem police officers and Salem firefighters responded to State Street and 12th Street on the report of a bicyclist being struck by a train. Police told Salem News Journal that the initial investigation indicates that the railroad warnings and barriers were functioning at the time of the collision.
Two people lost their lives early Sunday morning on Mission Street in Salem. The two people, that have not yet been identified, were on a motorcycle turning left from the I-5 Southbound off ramp onto Eastbound Hwy 22 when Eduardo de la Lima Vargas age 39 of Hubbard, ran the red light and collided with the motorcycle.
Mr. Gibson has been located by Marion County Search and Rescue Team 18. A ground searcher saw him laying next to a tree on Golf Lane in a wooded area. He is alive and well and being taken to a local hospital for observation.
Deputies with the Marion County Sheriff’s Office and their Search and Rescue Teams are currently searching for Gerald Gibson, age 84 of Sublimity. Mr. Gibson is 5’ 10” tall, 165 lbs with gray hair and blue eyes.
Yamhill County Sheriff and other agencies are searching for a missing swimmer near the Wheatland Ferry on the Willamette River. Currently, the Yamhill County Sheriff’s Office Marine Patrol, Tualatin Valley Fire & Rescue, and Clackamas County Dive/Rescue have craft on the water searching for the missing swimmer.

OSP says that on July 6, 2018 at approximately 7:30 PM. John OLSEN, age 54 from Portland, contacted the Oregon State Police and turned himself in. He was cited and released for criminal impersonation of a public servant and disorderly conduct. The Oregon State Police would like to thank the media and the public for their assistance.
The City of Salem's City Manager held a press conference to announce that the city will lift the drinking water advisory tomorrow. This is video of that press conference.
Tonight about 9:13 pm, Salem Police officers were called to reports of a shooting at the Walmart on Lancaster. Officers say after arriving on scene they learned that one male adult had been shot and seriously injured.

Marion County Sheriff's Office says they were called to a home invasion robbery on Coon Hollow Road SE near Sublimity. Investigators said they believe two men entered the home, tied up the residents and robbed them of their valuables.
Deputies with the Marion County Sheriff’s Office say they are seeking tips to help identify a man captured in a surveillance image from June 13th. The man, seen here, is currently wanted for questioning related to a vandalism and burglary investigation.
The City of Salem said today that self-operating splash fountains will be open every day beginning Friday, June 15, 2018. They will operate seven days a week.

The City of Salem said today that test results received this morning from water samples taken on Friday, June 8, indicate the presence of cyanotoxins in the water distribution system are below EPA advisory levels for vulnerable populations. However, as a precautionary measure, the City of Salem is extending the drinking water advisory.
Sherwood Police told Salem News Journal that it is seeking the public's assistance with identifying a suspect in a car theft and burglaries. Police ask that anyone with information about the suspect or the stolen vehicle are asked to call the Washington County non-emergency dispatch number at 503-629-0111.
The Marion County Sheriff’s Office says they were called to a plane crash in the 6700 block of Lardon Road NE near Salem. Deputies say that when they arrived they found a crashed fixed wing aircraft near a private runway.
The Marion County Sheriff’s Office is seeking tips to locate two female inmates who walked away from the Sheriff’s Office Transition Center on June 1st at 10:15 p.m. Deputies are searching for Molly Terwilleger age 26 and Mary Wiseby age 29, both of Salem.
The City of Salem says the city’s water system has small amounts of cylindrospermopsin and microcystin (cyanotoxins) in treated drinking water. Levels of toxins have been detected in the water system that supplies water to City of Salem, City of Turner, Suburban East Salem Water District, and Orchard Heights Water Association.
Late Sunday morning a local bar and grill owner was robbed of money that is used to pay Lottery tickets after causing a distraction. Liz Resch, owner of the West Side Station, in West Salem, told Salem News Journal a man, about 25 to 35 years old, five ft. eight, chunky, with blue eyes, was dropped off in the parking lot from an older cream or gold colored car.
A crash on Hwy 99W south of Monmoth has taken one mans life, sent another to the hospital and closed the highway. Oregon State Police says the operator of the log truck was pronounced deceased at the scene.
