UPDATE: Search for Missing Hunter Underway in East Marion Co. MAN FOUND DECEASED
This evening, searchers with the Regretfully Mr. Fred was deceased at the time he was found. The investigation into the cause of death is ongoing at this time.

Today at about 0944 hours, Marion County Sheriff's Office responded to a report of a missing hunter in the 18000 block of Old Mehama RD SE.

The missing hunter is identified as 37 year old Corey Fred who is an experienced hunter and is familiar with the area he was hunting.

The Grant County Sheriff's Office, with the assistance of Oregon State Police, are searching for an armed suspect in the Seneca area who is believed to have fled a shots fired incident earlier this morning. Highway 395 is closed in both directions at locations north and south of Seneca.

One Dead after Crash into River
Bystanders indicated that one man got out of the vehicle after it entered the water and began swimming to shore. The man reportedly stated that no one else was in the vehicle. The man was unable to make it to shore and died trying.

Woman Charged With Manslaughter in Death of Child
On October 7, 2014, an Indictment was filed in Marion County Circuit Court charging Mercedes Alvarado with Manslaughter in the Second Degree. Mercedes Alvarado, 25, is charged with recklessly causing the death of her daughter Aniya Zamora, who was three years old at the time of her death on April 19, 2013.

Officers found the van parked in the sunlight and found the children hot and sweating. The father of the children was inside getting a massage and told employees the children's mother was with them, even though she was not.

These incidents are noteworthy because children were present in the same location as these drug activities. One of these vehicle stops also involved several baggies of methamphetamine being tossed out of a vehicle in a residential neighborhood. The potential that this could have harmed curious children is significant.

Oregon State Police (OSP) is continuing the investigation into the cause of Monday morning's single vehicle fatal traffic crash that occurred off Highway 58 at Parkway Road in the Pleasant Hill area of Lane County.

On October 6, 2014 at approximately 7:20 a.m., OSP and local emergency responders received a report of a single vehicle crash on Highway 58 at Parkway Road. Shortly after arrival, the male driver was pronounced deceased at the scene of the crash that happened at an unknown time during the night.

PGE Foundation, the corporate foundation of Portland General Electric, announced a $100,000 grant in support of Oregon Health & Science University's Knight Cancer Challenge, a fundraising campaign inspired by a pledge from Phil and Penny Knight to provide $500 million to fund pioneering cancer research if OHSU can raise an equal amount in two years.
